Gurnard Sailing Club Training Programme 2008

Cadet Sail Training

Cadet training is open to children in year 4 and above.

Cadets must demonstrate competence at RYA stage 2 to participate in Thursday evening training, or RYA stage 3 to participate in Start Racing training. There will be an assessment day on Sat 26th April for cadets identified at the registration night, whose sailing level is uncertain. Cadets who are not yet at RYA stage 2 can attend the beginner’s weekends, and then progress to Thursday evenings if appropriate.

The Intermediate racing course is aimed at those cadets who have completed Start Racing and wish to improve their racing skills. This course is specifically designed to support and encourage cadets who are already participating in club racing.

Pico hire is available on Thursday evenings for up to 12 cadets, to sail 2- up (they are not available for single-handed sailing). On Friday evenings, cadets are encouraged to sail single-handed, and Pico hire is available for up to 6 cadets only.  Priority for hire will be given to cadets who have not previously hired Picos for cadet training and do not own a boat.

Due to the huge popularity of cadet training in 2007, applications for cadet training must be received in writing by Tues 25th March.

Cadet Registration night is Thurs 3rd April 7.00pm

Applications will not be accepted on registration night
