Gurnard Sailing Club hosts Cowes Dinghy Week, a six day family sailing event held immediately prior to the biggest sailing regatta of all, Cowes Week. Racing every day, Sunday to Friday with around 200 entries in more than 10 classes, this is an event not to be missed. For juniors or novices there is a seperate weekend of racing immediately prior to the week - details available on this website.
Sail
Racing is in the Western Solent with starts mainly off the club line. However a committee boat start may be used if the wind direction warrants it.
Most afternoon races are planned to be between two and two and a half hours duration.
Class racing will be provided for classes with 8 or more entries, classes confirmed already are development cats, dart 15, RS400, RS200, Picos, lasers, and three handicap classes.
Socialise
A full social programme runs during the week, with suppers, as well as lunches and B.B.Q before afternoon racing.
Social Events will include Live bands, karaoke, barn dance, Hawaiian beach party, Murrays Restaurant Supper and prize giving.
