COVID-19 Phased Plan
GSC are pleased to have now formed a Covid-19 Strategy Team with all final decisions being made by the Flag Officers. The team has been meeting (virtually) recently to develop a plan which sets out clearly the activities that can be undertaken at the club. This can be seen below. In line with Government and RYA advise, we can confirm that the club is presently at Phase Zero. As necessary, we will update this page to confirm any changes to the phases and/or what can be undertaken at the club should we need to modify the inclusion within any given phase. This page will be the sole source of information to refer to for updates so please keep a watch on all our social media platforms for notifications of updates or amendments which will be posted here.

We hope that the table is easy to understand, but should you have any questions, please do contact admin@gurnardsc.org.uk We will endeavour to respond to questions and add any relevant ones to the FAQ which is shown below. We hope that this helps.
FAQ
Q. What can we do to change at the club if the changing rooms are shown as a "no" on the phasing table?
A. During the phases where the changing rooms are not available, (0, 1, 2 & 3), we would encourage people to come to the sailing club with their sailing kit already on. If you have to change, we would recommend the use of changing/towel robes
Q. Why have you put a limited number of small race buoys out if there is no racing in Phase 1?
A. We felt that having a few marks available would make it possible for small groups to arrange their own, recreational racing and also act as a good boundary for others to use for sailors to remain within
Q. Why can the ribs not be used in Phase 1 & TBC in Phase 2?
A. At this time, it is not practical for us to introduce the use of ribs owing to the measures needed to ensure the safety of those operating, maintaining or handling them. We will continue to monitor this and should we feel that in line with best practice, guidance, policy and risk assessment we can introduce sooner, we will do so if possible
Q. Who has control of anyone sailing at GSC during Phase 1?
A. During Phase 1, all sailing is recreational and therefore the sailor is solely responsible for their activities and we would draw your attention to our previously issued guidance on going onto the water
NEW Q&A 9th JUNE 2020
Q. I see that under the present phase there is water to wash boats down. What precautions should be taken when using the taps?
A. We would ask that any member using the taps only does so if wearing a pair of gloves e.g. sailing gloves
Q. I noticed that people were helping hold boats whilst others were recovering trollies at the weekend. Is this safe?
A. We would ask that any members who are buddying up to recover boats/trollies do so at a safe distance and where a handle or boat is held, this is only done so using gloves. e.g. sailing gloves
Q. I have seen that there seems to be some racing going on. How can I get involved?
A. All racing at the moment is recreational and is not being organised by the club. We know that some of the classes have started to use WhatsApp to manage small groups for fun racing. If you wish to be included in any group, please email sailing@gurnardsc.org.uk and we will share your details (with your permission) with the person who is managing the group
