    Late Summer Series 4 - Sunday 2nd September

    Summer made a return to Gurnard Bay last Sunday. Bright sunshine and warmth also brought a tricky south easterly wind. Business as usual in the catamaran fleet as Paul Bowen led home the nine Shadows from Carl Blenkinsop and Shaun Kellett.     Junior Regatta 2018

    Over two glorious days 26 Gurnard Sailing Club cadets had an exciting mixture of racing and water based fun events in Gurnard Bay. With some of those taking part having only started the club's training programme this year, the first day of racing was a perfect introduction for them against some of the more experienced youngsters.     Shadow Nationals 2018

    The 2018 Shadow Catamaran National Championships were held at Gurnard Sailing Club from 29 th June to 1 st July. What a boat and what a venue! The race administration was first class and Barrie and Amanda Harding, Will Burns, Pete French, Bill, Barry Byham and others arranged great courses and even handed out doughuts to the competitors.     Summer Series 7 & 8 - Sunday 1st July

    After the recent sun, heat and light winds, the forecasted wind on Sunday never managed to turn up. This didn't stop racing inn Gurnard Bay but the light and fickle breeze demanded lots of concentration and luck. The top three places in the fast handicap were taken by the RS100's of Mark Harrison, Giles Peckham and Al Dickson.     SAILING INSTRUCTIONS NOW ENCLOSED This is essentially a training regatta for all abilities with a mixture of short races and 'fun' events on and off the water. The entry fee includes a t shirt for all competitors, there will be coaching available and there will be prizes for the sailing and other events.     Summer Series 3 & 4 - 17th June

    A strong flood tide gave testing conditions for the evening race on Wednesday. Close tacking up the shore was the order of evening with only just enough wind to make progress towards the west. Shaun Kellett led home in the Shadows followed by Paul Bowen and Carl Blenkinsop. There were more retires than finishers in the Fast Handicap.     Wednesday Summer Series 1 - Wednesday 6th June

    A gentle evening breeze filled in just in time for Wednesday evening racing. The Shadows were able to go into the stronger winds found in the middle of the Solent and were led home by Paul Bowen from Shaun Kellett and Carl Blenkinsop.     Gurnard RS Tera Cadets at the RS Tera Southern Championships

    Over the weekend of the Royal Wedding, Gurnard's young sailors took to the seas in the hope of jubilant celebration of their own at the RS Tera Southern Championships hosted by the Royal Lymington Yacht Club.
