    Although the weather decided to stop any sailing taking place on the final day of the season, the club house was packed for the Christmas lunch and annual prize giving.     Sailing Update December 2017

    This Sunday 10th December marks the last race of the Frostbite Series and our sailing season, and following the race will be our annual prize giving. If anyone has not yet returned their trophies from last year then please get them to a member of the sailing committee or bring them along with you.     Race Report Sunday 3rd December

    A gentle Westerly breeze welcomed the Frostbite series sailors on Sunday morning. It was business as usual for the Shadows as Paul Bowen took victory from Carl Blenkinsop and Pete Newlands. Shaun Kellett had the opportunity to admire his boat from afar as he rounded East Lepe and slid into the chilly Solent. Sailor and boat were happily reunited shortly afterwards.     Race Report Sunday 26th November

    A bright but chilly day with a brisk Westerly wind greated the hardy Gurnard fleets. Paul Bowen romped home in the Shadow catamaran fleet from Carl Blenkinsop and Shaun Kellett. Brett Aarons took an easy victory in the fast handicap. In the medium group, James Downer's Finn mastered the conditions to beat the chasing Areos of Chris Hobday and Kingsley Brown.     Race Report Sunday 19th November

    It was bright and sunny with a light north easterly breeze in Gurnard Bay. Beautiful day for mid November. The light winds kept all fleets racing around a short technical course in the bay. The short course kept the Shadow catamarans close together, the final tussle being won by Pete Newlands. In the Asymmetric group, the RS 400 of Graham Deegan triumphed over the following RS100s.     It was great to see so many people out racing and enjoying the fantastic conditions last Sunday in the Frostbite series. There are still five more races to go in this series so here's hoping we get more great weather like that!   • Dinghy Week Update

    Press Release from Gurnard Sailing Club, Cowes, Isle of Wight. Gurnard Sailing Club's annual Cowes Dinghy Week Regatta began on Saturday, attracting some fifty-five entries for the afternoon racing and twenty-four cadets to the junior event. The Junior Regatta was sailed in a ten knot southerly wind and featuredtwo classes, Picos and Laser 4.7s.
