IW Junior & Youth Dinghy Championships 2022 - Round 4

Published 19:33 on 16 Nov 2022

Great report from one of the sailors taking part. Thanks Isla Preston!

The Final races of the Isle of Wight Youth Championships 2022 were held at Brading Haven Yacht Club on Saturday 12 November, with blue skies and sunny weather, and a good turn out of 36 sailors from Gurnard SC, Royal Victoria YC, Yarmouth SC and Brading Haven YC, and every sailor did amazingly. The gentle breeze was a force 3, gusting at 4. There were three races for every fleet, and 4 different fleets in total.

In the ILCA4 fleet, Finn Evans won with flying colours, beating everyone by a mile.

The ILCA6 fleet was dominated by Noah Evans, however the first race was won by Samuel Osborne, who came a close 2nd.

Isla Preston completely annihilated all other competition in the tera pro fleet, winning by a vast amount.

The Tera regatta fleet was won by a very talented sailor, Harry O'Callaghhan, who won every single race.

In the Tera sport fleet it was neck and neck between Samuel Leather and Jasper Jenkinson, with Samuel winning only with the discard races.

All in all, it was a great event with a great community and great sailors. Thank you to Musto for sponsoring the event and providing great prizes and thanks to the amazing volunteers who put on the event.
