Over the weekend of the 20 th and 21 st July 30 youngsters between the ages of eight and 16 took part in Gurnard Sailing Club's Junior Regatta racing in either the Pico or Tera classes. Saturday's forecast looked ominous and at the briefing Race Officer Tim Cole announced that the Pico fleet would race first followed by the Tera fleet in order to maximise safety cover. Spring Series 1 - Sunday 14th April

The first race of the Spring Series didn't feel much like Spring. A cold and gusty Easterly wind provided for an exciting sail for all participants. Robin Leather returned to the Shadow fleet but wasn't too rusty and sailed a solid race to win from Paul Bowen and Shaun Kellett. Martin Scott and Pete Bowen sailed good races but were too early at the start. The Fast Handicap also suffered from competitors being too keen

Early Bird Seires 5 - Sunday 7th April

Beautiful weather was in attendance in Gurnard Bay on Sunday for the fifth race of the Earlybird series. The strong flood tide and fickle Easterly breeze provided challenging conditions for the race officer and competitors alike. Shaun Kellett battled through to beat Paul Bowen in the Catamaran fleet. Tim Wilkins showed signs of getting to grips with his RS 600 finishing in third the Fast Handicap fleet behind James Downer and Jon Price in second

    Frostbite Series 6 - Sunday 9th December

The cold strong wind and rough sea forced the race officer to cancel the last race of the 2018 season. The sailors weren't too unhappy about it as they had the end of season prize giving and festive lunch later in the day. After a lovely turkey lunch, pudding and coffees, prizes were presented by club Admiral Mrs Joyce Martin to those who had placed in the top three overall in each race series. Special

    Frostbite Series 3 - Sunday 18th November

A bright sunny Sunday with a brisk, cold north easterly wind created pleasant conditions for a November Frostbite series race. Paul Bowen took a commanding victory in the Shadow catamarans from Shaun Kellett and Carl Blenkinsop. Ben Willows overcame post party issues to sail his RS700 to the front of the Fast Handicap fleet ahead of Graham Deegan & Judith French on their RS400 and Brett Aarons sailing the first of the RS100's.
