Youth Sailing
Youth Sailing
Gurnard SC welcomes youth sailors, and our pathway includes children from Year 1 upwards.
Children are also very welcome to take part in club racing, and currently (2023) there is a very active Tera fleet and a big youth presence in ILCA, Feva and RS 500 fleets.
We offer the following development pathway:
Sharks and Dolphins
A Fun & Social Sailing group for parents who are competent sailors, and would like to take their children sailing in a safe environment, building water confidence.
This informal session runs on Saturday mornings from mid May to Mid July and is open to children in years 1-4. Safety cover is provided but there is no formal teaching.

Assistant Instructor
This course is available to cadets aged 14 or over, and builds on their sailing experience to introduce then to instructing. Cadets then assist our Dinghy Instructors on Thursday nights, developing interpersonal and teaching skills.
